This was one of the most fun experiences I've had in a while. Chef Joni was our primary chef, everything we had was excellent. My party went here as a pre show dinner, and truthfully nothing could have been better. All of the chefs were very attentive, and the soft shell crab hand roll I got absolutely changed my life. I'm already thinking about going back as soon as I can!
So glad we found this restaurant during our visit to Seattle. Tried the torched unagi, spicy tuna, crispy shrimp, akami and ikura rolls, all were amazing and very fresh. Also had the pork gyoza, edamame, and calamari appetizers. We did individual handrolls but I would probably try a set next time if you want some of the basic rolls and add on some of the specialty rolls. Omakase on Thursdays, will try next time we're in town.
Was here earlier this month with two friends for a pre-show dinner! Sugo has been on my list for a while and didn't disappoint. I made reservations and we sat at the counter. Every bite we had was great! I regret not taking more pictures because everything was beautifully presented, but was too eager to enjoy the delicious bites while fresh. Favorites of the night were the truffled avocado and soft shell crab. Drinks were great too! And the hospitality of servers and chefs alike (with extra kudos for chef Joni) was great. Will be going back!
Sugo Hand Roll Bar is a fun, casual spot with a great vibe. The hand rolls are super fresh and made right in front of you, which makes the experience even better. The fish quality is excellent, and the rolls are perfectly balanced — not too heavy, not too messy. Service was friendly and fast, and the bar seating makes it easy to enjoy everything as soon as it’s made. Great place for a quick bite or a chill sushi night. I’ll definitely be back.
This was our first time dining at Sugo, and it definitely won’t be the last. The food was absolutely delicious — every dish felt carefully prepared and full of flavor. The chefs and servers were warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Sitting at the counter gave us a unique view of the action in the kitchen, adding a fun and personal touch to the meal. If there’s one thing I could wish for, it would be slightly larger portions for the hand rolls. Still, the quality and overall experience far outweighed that small detail. I’d absolutely recommend visiting Sugo if you’re looking for a memorable dining experience.
Great little spot with delicious two-bite hand rolls, tasty cocktails, and really yummy calamari. The Otoro and Hamachi were my personal favorites! Will definitely be back!
I enjoy trying new restaurants and this place did not disappoint. The sushi chef was very Japanese in his demeanor and delivery of the crafted sushi. If you like to watch how your food is prepared without all the flare, this place is great for a meet-up with friends or colleagues. The sushi was amazing. Thr flavors were simple but delightful and that's usually how Japanese food is in japan. I loved it. Your handroll is not your typical handroll that comes in a cone shape but the taste was amazing. I ordered the crispy shrimp, eggplant and tofu handrolls.
I’m from LA and my go-to spot is KazuNori—but Sugo can rival it in almost every way. Yana and Kit were wonderful today; their service was incredible and they were genuinely kind. And the happy hour? No joke. They’ve got $4 hand rolls that really go far. I came after teaching at 2 PM when it was quiet, and I definitely didn’t leave hungry. I strongly recommend the Imura, King Salmon, and Oreo hand rolls. They’re worth every penny. And don’t forget to add some sake while you’re there. Enjoy!
